ZONE FOR THE HOLIDAYS!
THE FIFTH ANNUAL "BLACK FRIDAY SPECIALS" IS HAPPENING!
Free Radio Olympia 91.9FM, the underground pirate radio station in Olympia, Washington, was the stepping stone back into the music industry that longtime area DJ D-Phoenix used to re-establish The Groove Zone (Oly WA)'s position as a viable music force in the world-famous Olympia music scene back in 2018.
For 22 months, the alternative DJ would remain an active DJ on the staff at the small station...then Covid-19 took the world by storm.
One of the new holiday traditions presented by The Groove Zone (Oly WA) collective was a Black Friday LIVE radio broadcast to both the Thurston County area of Washington state, as well as the online community.
The first year, guests included the late Mike "Mikey" Dees of the punk band Fitz Of Depression, and singer-songwriter Caleb Twidwell.
Now, five years later, as the chaotic pseudo-holiday approaches, the crew has some cool things in store for our audiences on the day after Thanksgiving this year.
The full lineup of special guest stars isn't being revealed immediately, however, the earliest ads are announcing that The Depeche Mode Experience is one of the special guests for this year's installment of the now-annual event.
Also, return visits by two of the project's favourite artists are scheduled. As of press time, both Mountain Head of Ontario, Canada, and Soldiers Of Monochrome out of Newport Wales in the U.K. are making appearances on this edition of the shows.
Former Bellator MMA Lightweight champion Nathan "Superman" Stolen, of Aberdeen, Washington, is scheduled to catch up with the resident DJ. Stolen last appeared on the network just weeks before his last title fight in Boise, Idaho, back in August of this year.
A new face to the Groove Zone realm is international artist/painter Jeremiah Soper, of Olympia, Washington. Soper is an ultra-talented artist, whose work can literally be seen around the world. He spent a couple of decades over in Eastern Europe, painting a large number of designs and murals in pubs, nightclubs, and various other places around the Czech Republic.
Soper will be presenting a multi-media collage of his works when he appears on The Black Friday Specials on Friday November 25th, beginning at 12 noon Pacific time on the GZ page on Facebook at facebook.com/groovezoneoly. As mentioned and advertised, there are other surprise guests on the show this year, and there isn't any word at this time as to when/if they will be announced prior to the show's airing that day... so STAY TUNED FOR DETAILS!!

Look inside the world of Olympia, WA native Jeremiah Soper through the vivid paintings and art that he has created over the past few decades. He has an incredible talent, and is a dedicated artist who has left his artistic touch on more than one continent.
He left the familiarity and comforts of his home in Washington state in the mid 1990s, and landed in the Czech Republic in Eastern Europe. He would end up remaining there for the next couple of decades, experiencing the rich culture of the area.
His portfolio boasts both bright and dark, vivid and muted images from a mind that is grounded in and inspired by the scenes and sounds of the modern world around him.
The Groove Zone (Oly WA) is very pleased to bring the art of Jeremiah Soper to our audiences this Black Friday 2022.

WHEN THE GROOVE ZONE ANNOUNCED AN OPEN-CALL FOR SONG SUBMISSIONS FROM AREA BANDS, SEAN GENEREAUX ANSWERED THE CALL AND SUBMITTED LUST FOR GLORY'S COVER OF THE BEATLES' CLASSIC "A DAY IN THE LIFE". OUT OF ALL OF THE ENTRIES, THEIRS WAS THE ONE CHOSEN.
THE PRIZE FOR THE WINNER WOULD COME IN THE FORM OF HAVING THE SUBMITTED WINNING TRACK PUT ON THE RADIO STATION'S HEAVY DAILY ROTATION, ALONG WITH SOME OF THEIR OTHER TRACKS. THIS WOULD GIVE THE WINNING BAND MORE EXPOSURE TO OTHER AUDIENCES.
